BJP to inspire brothers to gift security schemes to sisters on Raksha Bandhan

Published on:
leveraging the festival of “Raksha Bandhan”, the BJP in tandem with the Government would inspire ‘brothers’ to gift Suraksha Bima Yojana and Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana to their ‘sisters’ on the day of the festival, next month and provide “a major push” to the two flagship social security schemes for their effective penetration all over the country.
“The idea to galvanise men to provide insurance security to their ‘sisters’ on the day of the popular festival is that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi”, said BJP National Secretary Anil Jain.“It is an emotional and symbolic way of extending benefits of Prime Minister’s schemes to women at a larger scale,” said Jain who is also National Coordinator for the implementation of   these schemes.
Prime Minister’s Suraksha Bima Yojana requires an annual premium of Rs 12 to insure a sum of two lakh  for accident and Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana needs Rs 330 annual premium to have insurance coverage of Rs 2 lakh for death “for any reason.” The schemes were launched early this year.Jain hoped that the party and the Government would be able to register around 10,000 to 12,000 women each assembly segment  The festival of ‘Raksha Bandhan’ falls on August 29.
The BJP and the Government would start a special drive from August 1 which may peak during the ‘Raksha Bandhan’ in the last week of the month. A total of five crore people may get enrolled for the two key schemes during the drive, Jain said.“Brothers would be providing social security to their sisters during the month…this would be besides promising their sisters personal safety,”  he added.
The party has constituted a high-level team headed by Union human resource development minister Smriti Irani to inspire party cadres to launch a “mass movement” ahead of the festival. The team  including Union ministers Thaawar Chand Gahlot, Harsh Vardhan and Jitendra Singh, along with Jain, the chief of the party’s women’s wing Vijaya Rahatkar, and party secretaries Sudha Yadav and Jyoti Dhurve will monitor the campaign at the national level.
All the team members would be touring different states from next-month to ensure that the schemes get a ready reception all over the country - particularly in the rural regions.RSS outfits Bhartaiya Majdoor Sangh and Bharatiya Kisan Sangh would also be supporting and helping BJP and the government in widening the  implementation of insurance schemes through their cadres.
Jain maintained that besides these two schemes, which provide economic and social security to the families, the idea of  Mudra Bank for which the government has earmarked Rs 20,000 crore in the budget scheme would create an environment of economic well-being in the countryThe bank, he said,  would enable people, mainly from the unorganized sector, to take loan and start their mini-enterprises and generate employment from themselves as well as the others and  could provide a combined employment to around six crore people, he said.
