BJP to hold Parivartan rallies in UP next month

Published on:

As a counter to Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's ‘Mega roadshow in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP is to have 'Parivartan rallies' in four of the nine zones of the State next month with the participation of top Central and State leaders.

In a similar vein, the party has decided to step up its campaign pitch against the Harish Rawat-led Congress Government in Uttarakhand anticipating that the Chief Minister may advance the date of election, due in January 2016, to avoid the 'double impact' of BJP's heavy campaign in UP which would also go to the polls at the same time, according to sources.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Party president Amit Shah would join the campaign and rallies in both the States.

The party recently announced Health Minster JP Nadda and Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as election in-charge of Uttarakhand  poll campaign to scale up the preparations there.

As in UP, the BJP would  have two separate yatras in Uttarakhand to 'expose'  Congress Government's 'omission and commission' in the State.

Besides, all chapters of party — youth, women, and SC/ST — would separately hold their rallies in all the 70 Assembly constituencies of the State.

On its part Uttarakhand Chief Minister who was almost ousted from his seat of power in a political coup earlier this year with BJP waiting to step in, has sought to penetrate BJP's vote bank by favouring ban on cow slaughter and supporting other so called Hindutva issues.

In UP, BJP is to raise its campaign decibel by many fold next month by organising four rallies in four zones with dates for Modi and Shah's participation in the poll-bound State may be worked out along with a review of UP election campaign strategy at National council meet in Kozhikode, Kerala, from September 23 to September 25.

The rallies and poll campaign in UP would be devised to give "a befitting response" to Rahul's ongoing road show in the State and BSP Chief Mayawati's increasing strikes at the BJP, sources said.

Around 1,700 delegates are expected to participate in the council meeting which will focus on the election strategy for UP, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Gujarat. Prime Minister will be addressing a rally in Kozhikode on September 23.

The meeting would also have a detailed look at 2019  general elections.

The rallies and poll campaign in UP would be devised to give "a befitting response" to Rahul's ongoing road show  and BSP Chief Mayawati's increasing attacks on the BJP, sources said.
