The BJP on Friday accused the Akhilesh Government in UP of “a conspiracy of inaction” in its lax handling of Mathura violence saying the administration had 80 intelligence inputs and detailed reports on the impending danger much ahead of the clash between the rioters and the police.
Addressing a Press conference here, BJP spokesperson Sudhansu Trivedi said the incident did not happened for for want of information about the activities of the squatters but as a consequence of a well-planned conspiracy “to ensure illegal occupation of the land.”
He said a sting operation had shown that local intelligence Unit (lIU) had given 80 reports running into 250 to 300 pages to the administration about the coming events but no action was taken. The Akhilesh Government, he said was falsely claiming that violence erupted for the lack of information with his Government.
Trivedi alleged that Mathura episode confirms that land grabbing was allowed to happed even at the cost of lives of police officials and taken “an institutionalised form” in the Akhilesh Government. In this episode, he regretted, a senior most Minister in the SP Government and a relative of Chief Minister was also involved.
The BJP leader said while the SP Government’s stand was highly condemnable, the attitude of BSP, Congress and RlD, “keeping silence on the issue” was equally reprehensible. Trivedi said in Rajya Sabha polls in UP, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh, either SP or the BSP were supporting Congress. He said it is clear that there was “a tacit understanding” among SP, SP and Congress and they were engaged in rescuing the accused in the Mathura incident.
