BJP seeks probe into 'money deal' between Sena, MNS corporators

Published on:

A day after MNS chief Raj Thackeray alleged that the Shiv Sena had “purchased” six of the seven corporators of his party at Rs 5 crore each, Mumbai BJP MP Kirit Somaiya on Monday wrote to the State Anti Corruption Bureau  (ACB) and Enforcement Directorate (ED), seeking an enquiry  into  the questionable financial transactions between the Shiv Sena, MNS corporators and middlemen.

In his letter to ED Joint Director Satyavrat Kumar, Somaiya sought action for “corruption, money-laundering, anti-democratic activities and other malpractices” indulged in by Shiv Sena which engineered the defection of the six MNS corporators to its fold.

“Request to investigate. All actions of/by these six MNS corporators be observed/put on hold till the investigation completed,” Somaiya urged the ED.

In his plea to the ED, Somaiya alluded to a “hawala transaction” between Chandrakant Patel of Pushpak Bullion and the Shiv Sena and MNS corporators in the matter.

Somaiya said  that Patel was arrested for money-laundering not long ago by the ED that had reportedly detected similar transactions between him (Patel), the Shiv Sena and its leaders.
