The BJP has asked for an NIA investigation into the Sunday’s Duttapukur cracker factory blast that claimed 10 people and maimed more than a dozen others.
Informing that he had already filed a public interest litigation in the Calcutta High Court, Bengal Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari on Monday said that he had no doubts considering the intensity of the blast that “it was an RDX explosion.”
Locals who fished out strewn bodies, severed heads, hands etc from nearby ponds too backed Adhikari’s claims saying nothing short of an NIA probe would satisfy them. Adhikari also demanded the resignation of the State Food Minister Rathin Ghosh who is also the MLA of the area saying, “locals have been complaining that the entire business was being carried out in connivance with the TMC bigwigs of the area.” The members of the NIA and the central forensic teams also wondered why laboratories were functioning in the area. “We have found onion storage stuffed with large packets of ammonium nitrate,” sources said wondering whether crude bombs too were manufactured in the area to be transported to various places for electoral fights.
Meanwhile, the Government on Monday suspended two Officers in-charge of local police stations, sources said.
