In the backdrop of ghastly disrobing and 'rape' of women in the BJP-ruled  Manipur , the BJP on Friday sought to highlight 'atrocities' against women in the opposition-ruled state of West Bengal and Rajasthan.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat accused Rajasthan  Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot of turning a blind eye to the oppression of women and cited a recent incident of burning of four family members in the poll-bound state.

In another press conference  BJP MP Locket Chatterjee 'cried'  and   cited a number of cases of crime against women, including alleged disrobing, during and after the West Bengal panchayat polls. The situation in Manipur also prevails in West Bengal,” she told reporters.

She said Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee  is sending her people on a fact-finding mission to Manipur. “Let her handle Bengal first..,said the BJP MP.
