The BJP on Monday taunted the “economist” Prime Minister for sending country’s economy to the ICU and asked him to break his silence over the poor state of country’s fiscal health. The Opposition party also dismissed UPA’s Bharat Nirman campaign claiming it was far from the real picture.
“The scam-tainted Government has left behind a black chapter for Indian economy. Possibly such a phase has never been witnessed in independent India. Growth rate has touched a 10 year low,” BJP general secretary Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.
The former Union Minister also criticised the Congress for tom-tomming its performance when the country was facing a financial crisis. “There has been a drop of USD 10 billion in FDI, we are witnessing a recession never seen before, the rupee is falling... What does the Prime Minister, who is an economist himself, has to say on the economic situation,” Rudy asked.
He also wondered whether the IPl spot-fixing scandal was an attempt to shadow the “astronomical” corruption of the UPA Government.
“My only concern is that this corruption is corruption of an individual or an organisation which is non-governmental. Whether there has been an attempt to shadow through this the national corruption over public exchequer where the Government is itself involved,” Rudy added.
He wondered whether corruption issue of cricket can be “offset” with the corruption at the Government.
“Having said that, we have to keep in mind that Government is involved in a far bigger and a more astronomical corruption than what we are seeing in IPl,” he said.
