The BJP has attacked Congress for doing “petty politics” over terror saying the party has touched a ‘new low’ by speaking the language of Pakistan on the blowing up of suspected terror boat on Friday.
The BJP was reacting to the Congress statement asking the Government to come clean on the Pakistani boat issue and explain which terrorist organisation was behind the episode.
“The Government should come clean on it. There is no evidence. How can you say that a terrorist attack was preventedIJ” Congress spokesperson Ajoy Kumar said. He also accused the Government of sensationalising the issue.
In a counter-attack on Congress, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said the Congress with such statements was giving enough “ammunition” to Pakistan. “India celebrated a happy New Year because the Coast Guards and the intelligence forces could successfully abort a probable terrorist attack. The Central Government issued a Press statement lauding the role of the Coast Guards and the intelligence forces. But, ironically, instead of standing with the Indian Government and taking the opportunity of thanking all those who protected us from a probable terrorist attack, the Congress chose to be sympathetic towards the probable perpetrators. Today the voice of Congress is lending credence to the Pakistani stand. One cannot differentiate between the voices of the Congress and the Pakistani spokespersons,” Patra said.
Patra also attacked Congress for pointing fingers towards Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) following the 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, and sympathising with alleged terrorists after the Batla House incident. “Sonia shed tears on the death of the terrorists as narrated by the former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid himself. None other than the Home Minister of India Sushil Kumar Shinde, in the presence of Congress president Sonia had spoken about Saffron terror, and deriving immense pleasure out of this statement Hafeez Sayeed had the last laugh,” Patra said.
The BJP spokesperson expressed disappointment over the way the Congress reacted to the episode. “Is this the way of raising doubt over matters concerning national securityIJ Weren’t there more mature ways for calling for the detailsIJ Don’t they have faith on the Indian intelligence, Indian Coast Guards and the Indian GovernmentIJ Is the Congress under the false perception that major incidences of ‘probable terror planning’ and the ‘Terror Boat’ will not be thoroughly and transparently investigatedIJ Shouldn’t the principal Opposition party show some patienceIJ What was the hurry in the Congress to question the Centre and lending a helping hand to the Pakistani Government. Did the Congress wanted to gain some cheap publicity out of a serious issue or is there more to readIJ” Patra said.
Meanwhile, the BJP described the Rajasthan Government’s move of seizing about 374.44 hectares of land, a part of which reportedly belonged to businessman Robert Vadra, as a “victory of law.”
“We have said this from the start that people who are guilty, whether it is the matter of land acquisition or any other, law will definitely do its work. This question has been asked from us time and again in Rajasthan that what is the action you are taking against Robert Vadra’s company. The reports of the investigation had been submitted and the Government has taken action on that. I feel that it is a victory for law and time will tell about the future activities, Patra said.
However, the AAP said that the Rajasthan Government’s action is not “an action against Vadra” as no FIR has been registered against him. “I am surprised for the last one year the Rajasthan Government is probing and so far they have only been able to cancel a 300-acre land deal,” AAP leader Manish Sisodia said.
