Citing its serial win in the State and local bodies elections across the country, the BJP on Monday claimed that farmers and the “poor” are standing with the party, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the new farm laws and hit-out at the Congress and AAP for allegedly “misleading” farmers for “achieving” their “own political ends”.
As the stand-off with the Central government and agitating farmers calling for the roll-back of three new farm laws is nearing three weeks , the BJP has stepped up its efforts to collect support for the Government even as it also attacks the opposition for its alleged attempts to exploit farmers’ protest on the outskirts of Delhi.
“ Since the notification of new farm laws, BJP has won all elections be it Bihar Assembly polls or local bodies elections in Hyderabad (Telangana), Rajasthan, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and latest in Goa ‘Zila Panchayat’ polls...it says loud that ‘gaon, garib aur kisan’ BJP aur Modiji ke Saath hain”, announced BJP’s national spokesperson Sambit Patra here at a press conference.
Counting the results of Goa ‘Zila Panchayat’ results where he said BJP was inching towards majority mark (already winning 27 out of 48 seats vis-a-vis three of the Congress). Patra said without the support of “‘gaon, garib aur kisan”, who form the spine of this country, the BJP would not have won all these elections,
Lashing out at Congress and AAP leader and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for “ creating confusion among farmers” and “misleading” them,
BJP spokesperson said both the opposition parties tried to “lay siege to Prime Minister Modi on four issues of Coronavirus, economic crisis, migrant labourers and new farm laws but badly lost out...”.
Claiming that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who “knows little about agriculture” and may “ confuse Rabi and Kharif crops with the names of BJP workers”, he said, “Rahul is spreading confusion among farmers”.
“Farm agitation has turned into a fight of political parties..Punjab CM Attacking Delhi CM..they have forgotten farmers”, said BJP leader.
Pointing out that AAP, which also contested in Goa local body polls and scored a duck, Patra quipped “ Kejriwal Goa main Zero hain, yahan hero hain..”.
He said it was Kejriwal who had said that if his party were to be in power in Punjab, “he would remove middle-men and reform APMC. “You notified farm bill in Delhi and are now sitting on hunger strike,,: the BJP leader said condemning the “double-faced stand” of AAP.
