BJP protests over ruckus in MCD

Delhi BJP on Saturday staged a protest at Rajghat against the violence that erupted at the first House meeting of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), in the national Capital. The BJP leaders demanded suspension of 13 AAP MLAs for a year who started ruckus in the MCD and instigated party’s workers and councillors.

The protest was led by the State BJP Working president Virendra Sachdeva and Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri along with party workers, councilors, nominated aldermens and office bearers. They raised also several slogans against the AAP such as ‘AAP ki gundagardi nahi chalegi’ etc. Many senior leaders of the BJP including MP Dr. Harsh Vardhan, MP Ramesh Bidhuri, National Spokesperson Sardar R P Singh, State General Secretary Harsh Malhotra, and BJP's Mayoral candidate Rekha Gupta, etc. also participated in the protest.

“It was a very shameful day in the history of democracy for the people of the city because the whole country witnessed that how the unbridled corporators of AAP and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal misbehaved inside the corporation house. Their party MLAs could be seen giving provoking instructions,” said Sachdeva, while addressing the gathering.

Sachedeva claimed that the AAP councilors hurled chairs, snatched the mike from the presiding officer, stood on the tables, and abused showing the kind of politics the that they do. “Despite having 134 corporators, Kejriwal and his party are scared of the internal elections in the corporation.

The reason for this is that there is a rift within his party and to hide that fear, CM has resorted to violence, but the BJP is not going to bow down to the violence,” alleged Sachdeva.

Bidhuri said that all the councilors and 13 MLAs of AAP have not only disrespected the constitution written by Baba Bhimrao Ambedkar but also hurt the chair of the respected woman like Presiding Officer Satya Sharma.

“AAP MLA Janrail Singh himself was seen breaking the table. The place of such people should be inside the Tihar jail. The work that Kejriwal and his MLAs used to do in the Vidhansabha, likewise their councilors did the same work in the Corporation House,” Bidhuri said. "Kejriwal taking the name of Mahatma Gandhi formed the AAP, Gandhi's soul must be anguished by what AAP councilors did in the MCD House, Hooliganism by its councilors in the MCD meeting on Friday showed its anarchic face," BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri said.

Meanwhile, Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor also wrote a letter to the L-G demanding the suspension of the 13 AAP MLAs for violating the tradition of the Corporation house.

In the letter, the BJP spokesperson stated that after looking at the available videos and pictures, it was understood that 13 nominated MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party, especially Atishi, Sardar Jarnail Singh, Durgesh Pathak, and Sanjeev Jha, are among others who provoked the new councilors of their party for violence. “MLA Jarnail Singh even climbed on the table of the presiding officer,” he said.
