The Congress on Tuesday blamed BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for playing “politics of deception” and accused the ruling party for not taking even the slightest action or even “suspension for an hour” of any of its motormouths, who cost them heavily in the recent poll debacle in Bihar.
“It is all politics to fool the people. The Prime Minister is the top leadership but not the slightest action against anyone,” said Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi. The long list of leaders of the BJP and Sangh Parivar who made controversial statements over the past 18 months included BJP MPs Vinay Katiyar, Sakshi Maharaj, Giriraj Singh, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya.
“No penal action. No coercive action. There is no expulsion, not even suspension. No suspension even for an hour of any of the motormouths... They have not learnt a single lesson from Bihar,” Singhvi said, while speaking to reporters here.
With Finance Minister Arun Jaitley attributing the defeat to motormouths, the silence is more serious. “The Finance Minister attributes the defeat to motormouth, but where is the concrete action takenIJ What is the use of Finance Minister giving us all the homilies when neither he nor his party ‘Sheershasth Netritva’ of the BJP — has taken the slightest action”, Singhvi remarked.
According to Congress spokesperson, what is being witnessed was politics of deception as Prime Minister was “running with the hare and hunting with the hound"” to keep the core constituency happy and so also the RSS which has got the “remote control”.
“We see political discourse by the BJP-NDA deteriorating into the level of ‘Gutter’. We have silence from the top level and we have homilies from other levels where spokespersons say this is wrong, this should not be done,” Singhvi said.
He even commented on the silence of the BJP even after a controversial remark was made by Vijayvargiya against a BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha that was a matter of worry. Despite the statement kicking up a row, Vijayvargiya was not proceeded against by the party top brass.
