BJP parliamentary meet tomorrow

Published on:

The first  BJP parliamentary party meet after it  won 303 lok Sabha seats would be held on July 2nd with Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing it and drawing the frame-work of the task ahead  and also  revealing his mind on his expectations from the law makers, a large number of them being the new one.

Prime Minister has not been able to interact with the elected BJP MPs, a large number of them being the first-timers, on June 25 on account of the death of Rajasthan’s BJP unit president and Rajya Sabha member Madan Lal Saini.

The meeting which is held in the parliament provides MPs to come face to face with their top leaders including Prime Minister and Party President.

With an stupendous mandate at hand, the party is expected to play a pro-active role in implementing new Government welfare schemes as there is rising expectations that the Government would expedite the slew of  promises  made during the poll campaigning.

The important bills including that of triple talaq bill which is introduced in Lok Sabha afresh may come up for passing next week.  The BJP MPs would be receiving guidelines and a sense of  the direction  it is to take in next five-years.

Apart from the significance of the ongoing session, in which his Government will present it’s first budget and also hopes for the passage of many bills, Modi may also speak about key decisions his dispensation has taken since it assumed power in May.

Close to the first General Budget in Modi-2, the Prime Minister may outline his economic vision before the party legislatures.

According to sources, Modi would be felicitated at the maiden meeting. Prime Minister would be attending the event after his  return home Saturday from G-20  meet at Osaka in Japan.

It will also be the first time in many decades that BJP veterans L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi will not be present in the BJP meeting as the party did not field them in Lok Sabha polls on the ground of 75-year age bar it introduced for its candidates. Former Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley who is convalescencing would also not be attending the meet.

The meet would be held in the backdrop of Modi’s assertion made at the central hall  address to the NDA MPs that that party has won mandate not for doing “ kuch” (some inconsequential) but for “ Bahut kuch” (great many tasks).

Modi has already asked central Ministers to work from their offices and reach there by 9.30 am and thus lay down a rigorous work ethics for themselves.
