Expressing concern over the rising crimes against women in Uttar Pradesh, BJP national Mahila Morcha president Vijaya Rahatkar has demanded resignation of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on moral grounds.
“When a Chief Minister could not protect the lives of the women he has no moral right to continue as CM,” she said while addressing reporters here on Wednesday.
She earlier met State DGP Jagmohan Yadav and Chairperson, State Women Commission, Zareena Usmani. later, she visited Barabanki to meet the family members of the deceased woman who was burnt to death by two policemen. Rahatkar said that the present SP Government seems to have closed its eyes on deteriorating law and order situation in the State. No one has the answer as to why the policemen who were accused of setting ablaze the woman have not been arrested so far. “The dying declaration of the victim was enough evidence to book the policemen on murder charges and put them in jail,” she said while demanding that the accused policemen should be put behind the bars and be sacked from service.
