BJP leader writes to Nitish for occupying two Govt houses

The occupation of two palatial houses by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his refusal to vacate any of them has angered his former deputy Sushil Kumar Modi. The BJP leader fired another letter to Nitish on Sunday asking him if he is a CM or former CM. He asked, “If you are a CM, do you have right to claim both salary as well as pensionIJ Similarly in your capacity as the CM how come you claim the accommodation, PA and PS as former CMIJ”

In Patna, the 1, Ane Marg residence is earmarked as the CM’s residence. But Nitish is still staying at 7, Circular Road which he had been allocated when he had demitted the office over two years back. Even after returning to power Nitish continued to stay at 7, Circular Road. Both the sprawling houses are at a stone throw distance.

Earlier too Modi had written to Nitish about the two houses under his occupation but the reply had been made by the housing department which he found unsatisfactory.

Modi recalled that during his tenure as Deputy CM a resolution had been passed by the legislature amending the Bihar Special Security Act in 2010 providing free accommodation to former CMs in Patna but pointed out that there was provision that a former CM in case of becoming CM again would continue availing the housing facilities of the former CM.

“In 2014 under your chief ministership the cabinet secretariat has issued a resolution saying that two members of a family, both former CMs would not get two houses. He was referring to the housing facility to former CM Rabri Devi but no house was allotted to her husband and former CM lalu Prasad.
