Union Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre of the BJP, seeking re-election to the Lok Sabha from Dhule, found himself in a spot on Monday, as his party’s local MLA Anil Anna Gote resigned from the party and announced that he would contest against him the polls as an Independent candidate.
Gote, a journalist-turned politician who had been publicly criticising the BJP leadership and Bhamre for several months now, sent off his resignation to Maharashtra BJP president Raosaheb Danve-Patil and announced his decision to contest the polls against Bhamre from Dhule constituency.
