BJP criticises UPA Govt for rampant corruption

Published on:

The BJP on Monday criticised the UPA Government for rampant corruption as was evident from the Commonwealth Games scam, Coalgate and chopper gate and demanded that Government should provide all relevant documents to the CBI so that a proper investigation into the matter could be held.

Raising the issue in the Rajya Sabha during Zero Hour, BJP leader Prakash Javadekar said that 17 billion tonnes of coal worth Rs 51 lakh core were given to 140 companies free of cost without setting any pre-condition about providing cheaper electricity. But the UPA Government has failed to provide any satisfactory answers for this rampant corruption.

Pointing out that this coal scam had happened when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was the in-charge of the coal ministry, Javadekar demanded that the PM should take responsibility for the lapse and resign.

He also said that CBI, which is probing the coal block allocation, is not being given relevant document and demanded that all these papers should be provided so that probe could be held into the matter.
