The BJP is formulating a new economic policy in tune and sync with India's nationalism and spirituality, yoga guru Baba Ramdev said on Monday.
"A committee headed by former BJP chief Nitin Gadkari is drawing up a blueprint, which would have a new taxation system, manufacturing and agricultural policies with special emphasis on swadeshi and Indianness," he said.
He said the sub-committee on economic policy is headed by noted economist Dr Subramanian Swamy. "We will have a foolproof taxation structure with no provision for tax evasion," said Ramdev.
Ramdev who was here in connection with preparation for March 23 Yoga Mahotsav, in which 10 crore people are expected to participate in yoga programmes spread across 650 locations, said his mission was to establish an India free of black money and corruption. "These two are the root cause of all evils plaguing the country," he said. When a journalist pointed out that there were no differences between the economic policies of the NDA Government (1998 to 2004) and the UPA Government, Ramdev said BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi had assured him that the economic policies of the new Government would be centred on Swadeshi movement. "You wait till the Nitin Gadkari committee comes out with the blueprint and see the changes," said Ramdev. He also called for the early abolition of the VIP culture prevailing in temples all over the country. "All are equal before God. This VIP culture and open discrimination must go at the earliest. I will lead an agitation against this kind of discrimination," he said.
He said over 80 per cent of the OBC people would vote for the BJP because they want Narendta Modi to be the prime minister of the country. "He has been waging war against corruption and black money. Modi is the only person who is capable of eliminating inflation, unemployment, poverty social and economic inequalities which are the offshoots of corruption," he pointed out.
Ramdev said from 24 March, his followers would launch a door-to-door campaign in support of 'Modi for PM'.
