Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday flagged off the Bharatiya Janata Party’s
pre-poll Kerala march, Vimochana Yatra,
captained by State party president Kummanam Rajasekharan at Uppala in Kasaragod district.
The Yatra, aimed at invigorating the party rank and file and the various Sangh Pariwar outfits in order to meet the challenges posed by the Assembly election to be held in May, will conclude at Thiruvananthapuram on February 10 after covering all the 140 constituencies in
the State.
Describing the BJP as the party for tomorrow in Kerala, Naidu asked the people of the State to rally behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s politics of development. He said Kerala, which was trapped in the same kind of politics played by the Congress-led and
Communist Party of India(Marxist)-led fronts for the past several decades, was craving for a change.
While the Modi Government was leading the country forward through the path of development, the Congress was trying to pull it back, Naidu alleged. Senior party leader O Rajagopal presided over the inauguration of the Vimochana Yatra. Party leaders like V Muraleedharan, PK Krishnadas and Sobha Surendran and others took part in the programme.
