BJP asks SAD to clarify stand on calling Indira's assassins 'martyrs'

BJP on Sunday condemned Punjab Chief Parliamentary Secretary Birsa Singh Baltoha’s remarks calling the assassins of Indira Gandhi “martyrs”, and asked SAD patron and Chief Minister to clarify his party’s stand on the issue.

“Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and SAD president Sukhbir Badal must clarify their stand on the issue,” senior BJP leader laxmi Kanta Chawla said in a statement here.

“It is unfortunate that the Chief Parliamentary Secretary called former prime minister Indira Gandhi’s assassins martyrs. This remark is anti-national and supports terrorists,” she said.

Chief Parliamentary Secretary Birsa Singh Baltoha had yesterday called Gandhi’s assassins “martyrs” at a function in Chandigarh.
