The BJP on Tuesday sought to ask the Opposition parties to look within before launching “orchestrated campaigns” against the Modi Government and its leaders and blocking development and reform in the country.
The issues of farmers’ suicide in Delhi, “fake degree” of law Minister in the AAP Government and “false allegations” against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan were raised in the Parliamentary Party meeting here.
The meeting was attended by senior BJP leaders of the party. BJP’s lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members were briefed on various issues by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
The death of Rajasthan farmer Gajendra Singh at the AAP rally last week came up for discussion with party members quoting farmer’s family members that “the suicide note” handwriting did not match with his writing. They accused AAP of creating a deliberate propaganda on the issue.
A section of BJP MPs raised the issue of the alleged fake degree of AAP leader and Delhi law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar and maintained that the latter’s degree was “not genuine”. A Bihar-based university Monday reportedly informed the Delhi High Court that it has no record of Delhi Tomar completing his law degree from the State.
“The orchestrated campaign” of Congress leaders like Digvijay Singh, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kamal Nath and Kapil Sibal against Chouhan came up for strong denouncement in the party meet. It was informed that the Special Investigation Team set up the CM to inquire into the charges leveled against him by the Congress has been accepted by High court. The SIT report said allegations of Congress leaders were based on “forged complaint”.
The meeting felt the Congress which has been out of power in Madhya Pradesh for a very long period wanted to “demolish” Chouhan’s image of “a strong and development- driven leader.”
It was felt in the meeting that Congress was falsely queering the pitch of anti-land bill campaign by referring to the death of a farmer whereas from 2004 till now every year 10,000 farmers committed suicide. The UPA governments had acquired land “without compensation and Social Impact assessment”, BJP leaders said in the meting.
The members were informed in detailsabout all the bills including Goods and Services Tax bill which would bring about “tax unity” in the country.
