Welcoming Kolkata high Court ruling on the post-poll cases of rape, attempt to rape, murders and destruction of houses belonging to BJP supporters in West Bengal, the BJP on Thursday asked the Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee to do ‘atm chintan’ as it charged her with ‘standing’ with the ‘culprits’ and sought other opposition parties to emulate it’s role of a ‘constructive opposition’ in the State.
Addressing a press conference here BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said the high Court has asked record of all cases and evidence be handed over to the CBI and ordered a yet another Special Investigation team under a retired Supreme Court judge.
Besides, he said the court has said victims and their families be given time-bound compensation within six weeks and that the CBI and the SIT will place status report before the high Court.
“All authorities and agencies will cooperate with CBI and SIT and interference will not be tolerated..”, BJP spokesperson quoted the high Court ruling as saying.
He said “the judgement should prove a milestone in judicial pronouncements and hoped that the court ruling will prompt Banerjee do some ‘atm chintan”.
Bhatia said Chief Minister didn’t do justice and police was used to “accomplish own political ambitions”.
BJP leader quoted the Court saying “in number of cases of rape, violece against women were closed without any FIRs apparently to favour the accused..”
Bhatia asked other opposition parties in Bengal to follow the BJP and engage in a “ ‘constructive opposition” in Bengal.
