BJP all set to rule lS polls

From next week a battle-ready BJP will get down to the business of fine tuning organisational set up for the 2014 national election, which may be held early next year.

Buoyed by an emphatic victory in the recent State polls, the party hopes to make inroads in several States where it fared poorly in the 2009 lok Sabha election.

The party has set a target for itself to get 272+ seats in the next lok Sabha election. President, Prabhari and Organisational Secretary of every State BJP unit will gather here on December 24 to brief the party high command about their preparations for the upcoming national polls.

BJP chief Rajnath Singh is understood to have asked for a Statewise report on strengths, weaknesses and prospects of the party in respective regions and steps required to boost electoral prospects.

The BJP is aiming to improve its tally in States like Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana and few others where it did not perform exceptionally in 2009.

Out of the total 167 seats in these five States, the BJP could win just 26 while drawing a blank in Uttarakhand, Delhi and Haryana. The party is trying to stitch up alliances in Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand and some North-Eastern States to improve its tally in those regions.

“There are certain organisational issues, which need to be sorted out without further delay. We are trying to establish pre-poll alliance with some political parties and all such issues would be discussed during this meet,” a senior BJP functionary told The Pioneer.

This meeting would be followed up with a conclave of top BJP leaders in the national Capital between January 17 and 19.

The national executive of the BJP leaders will meet on January 17 while the National Council body would hold brain storming session for the next two days.

The national office bearers will be meeting separately on January 16 to chalk out the agenda for the next three-day long conclave.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh, who secured a hat-trick victory and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who led BJP to a second victory under her leadership, will also be felicitated in this event.
