With an enquiry by National Human Rights Commission vindicating its stand of large scale exodus of Hindus from Kairana, the Bharatiya Janata Party is set to launch a massive offensive in western UP, highlighting how people were persecuted by criminals with political patronage.
All BJP MPs and legislators are slated to meet in Meerut soon to chalk out a strategy on how to make it a major political issue in entire western UP.
The NHRC in its report had admitted that there was a large scale exodus of Hindu families from Kairana. The Commission also directed the UP Government to act on the eight-point recommendations made by it to improve the situation in Kairana.
State BJP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya said that once MP Hukum Singh raised the issue, a probe team led by BJP legislature party leader Suresh Khanna went to Kairana on June 15 and found the exodus to be true.
“Subsequently, we met the Governor on June 17 and demanded that people in Kairana be given protection. But the State Government did not act against the criminals responsible for this exodus. SP leaders said that the report was fabricated. With NHRC authenticating the exodus, the State Government should now take action,” Maurya asserted.
BJP MP from Kairana, Hukum Singh, who had first unravelled the mass exodus of Hindu families from Kairana some months back, claimed that Kairana-like situation was prevailing everywhere in west UP.
Singh said that all BJP MPs and legislators would meet to discuss the issue in the wake of the NHRC report seeking UP Government’s action within eight weeks.
