BJP activists seek law Minister's scalp

The BJP activists on Tuesday took to the streets demanding the resignation of Delhi law Minister Somnath Bharti. They also protested against the ongoing stir by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Scores of BJP activists led by its State unit president Vijay Goel were taken into preventive custody after they clashed with policemen while breaking barricades to march towards the Parliament where Kejriwal and his supporters were already holding a dharna. The BJP youth workers were protesting against Bharti’s alleged misbehaviour with African nationals in South Delhi last week.

The protesters began their march from Delhi BJP office towards Kejriwal’s protest site at Rail Bhavan but were stopped short by police and ITBP personnel on Parliament Street. Demonstrators raising anti-AAP and anti-Kejriwal slogans demanded the resignation of Bharti and tried to break barricades and jostled with security personnel. The protesters along with Goel were detained and taken to Parliament Street police station in two buses. They were later released.
