launching a scathing attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Goa BJP has demanded that the AAP founder should apologise to the denizens of the coastal State for allegedly likening it with “sex, drugs and casinos”.
Addressing a Press conference at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State headquarters in Panaji, State president Vinay Tendulkar also warned the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of an electoral rout, if the party contests in all forty40 constituencies in the State which are likely to go for polls in January next year.
“The Delhi Chief Minister during the AAP rally on Sunday said that Goa is known for sex, drugs and casinos. Kejriwal should apologise to the people of Goa... He has come to Goa and insulted Goans. He should apologise to Goans or he should be ready to face consequences, which will be bad,” Tendulkar told reporters.
“Goa is known for its beaches, it’s greenery, churches, temples that is why people from abroad come to Goa,” Tendulkar said, adding that the BJP was also contemplating filing a complaint against the Delhi Chief Minister for defaming Goa.
Kejriwal, who delivered his first public speech in Panaji setting the tone for the AAP’s electoral foray in the State ahead of the upcoming polls, had said that the BJP’s perception of tourism in Goa included “sex, drugs and casinos”.
Tendulkar has also challenged the AAP to contest State Assembly polls in Goa, saying the party would not be able to save the electoral deposit of a single candidate in any of the forty legislative Assembly seats in the State.
“He (Kejriwal) does not have a panch, a sarpanch and he wants to contest all 40 seats in Goa. I challenge Kejriwal, that he should save the deposit of at least one contesting candidate,” Tendulkar said.
Tendulkar also called the AAP style of governance as nautanki-baaz, claiming people in Delhi had already begun to complaint about Kejriwal.
“People are saying they are unhappy with the power cuts in Delhi and at the same time Kejriwal is holidaying in Goa,” Tendulkar said.
Tendulkar also asked Kejriwal to stop making “baseless charges” against the incumbent BJP-led coalition Government in Goa and dared the Delhi CM to file corruption complaints with the Goa lokayukta. “If he has the guts, Kejriwal, who is an RTI activist, should file complaints before the lokayukta in Goa and expose the corrupt people in the Government. He should not make baseless charges,” Tendulkar dared.
