As both the national parties in Karnataka, ruling Congress and the major Opposition BJP are facing internal dissent, the cool cat JD(S) which is hoping to play a kingmaker role (or may become king itself) has taken a leap forward by projecting itself as the saviour of the State. In a smart move ahead of assembly polls  a biopic on JD(S) chief  HD Kumaraswamy as Chief Minister and savior of the people of Karnataka is expected to hit the screens in November just before the elections.

The film “ Bhoomi Putra “is directed by well-known Kannada director S Narayan who wants to  focus on  HD Kumaraswamy when he was the  chief minister and his  projects and developmental activities under taken  in 2006-2007.The two-and-half hour film a first ever biopic on a political leader in Karnataka which is aimed at assembly polls, is crucial for the JDs to keep its identity intact. Kumaraswamy himself a producer and a known personality in the film industry has sponsored his son Nikhi as an actor recently in a high budget film  Jaguar in Kannada and Telugu.

The Film Bhoomi Putra in Kannada means son of the soil, is looking at roping in  renowned actor Arjun Sarja in the lead role as Kumaraswamy. However the director says they have not finalised the actors for the film. As per the political equations in Karnataka assembly polls , the JDs is going to play a major role in government formation in the state and this film might influence certain pockets in old Mysuru where vokkaligas (gowdas) a dominant community are in numbers. The JDs has already started to consolidate its position as a force to reckon with and started campaigning aggressively across the state.

The JDs also like national parties has started aggressive social media campaign which finds this cinema a powerful mass media dissemination process to further its campaign. A JDS leader said that it would help project his leader Kumaraswamy as the hero and the chief minister who could solve the problems of the state as a savior. This Kannada film,  as some of the JDs leaders believe would help them to project Kumaraswamy across the state.  The film is produced by Prabu Kumar a great fan of Kumaraswamy. S Narayan, known for films like Shabdavedhi and Chandra Chakori in Kannada is directing the film and both the producer and director are tight lipped about the budget for the movie.

According to sources the shooting will commence from the 8 of May and they would disclose the complete star cast soon. According to director S Narayan he liked the role of Arjun Sarja who played a major role in Mudalavan a Tamil film and wants to rope him in to play the lead role of Kumaraswamy.
