Biometric attendance for Govt employees ordered

With an aim to ensure timely attendance of employees, Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi has ordered biometric attendance for the employees and also declared that at least 3,000 shops selling generic medicines be opened at the earliest.

The Chief Minister also announced the revival of all co-operative societies and the wheat purchase target has been increased from 40 lakh metric tonnes to 80 lakh metric tonnes. The directives were given during a review meeting of various departments held here on Friday.

“The work culture in Government offices should improve. The employees should come to office on time. To ensure this, bio-metric attendance system should be introduced in all Government offices,” Yogi said and added that CCTVs should also be installed in rooms so that those employees who play truant could be brought to book.

The Chief Minister spoke in detail about his experience during inspection of Government departments. “I was shocked to see the condition of files as they were gathering dust. Files should be properly maintained. If possible, the Government work should be digitised,” he said.

Yogi reviewed work in different departments including Health, Education, Agriculture, Infrastructure Development and Home. “The Union Government has launched a scheme to provide cheap medicines to masses. But that benefit has not reached the people of Uttar Pradesh as the previous Government did not open enough shops selling medicines on generic name,” Yogi said. He asked officials to ensure that at least 3,000 such shops across Uttar Pradesh were opened so that the benefit could reach the masses.

“I know that the Health services are pathetic in UP. Doctors do not come to hospitals. This government is committed to providing best possible medicare to patients and would ensure that doctors attend hospitals,” the CM said.

When his attention was drawn towards delay in construction of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Yogi said that as people are not able to get advantage of this scheme, the project should now be monitored by Housing department. The Urban Development department was earlier monitoring it.
