Bill helps Opposition parties unite: TMC

Accusing BJP-led Government for bringing “anti-farmer” provisions in the land Acquisition Bill, Trinamool Congress MP Dinesh Trivedi said on Tuesday that the Bill had helped the Opposition parties to unite against the Government. He described the tyranny of majority had made the Government to take actions “subverting democracy.”

“One good aspect of your Bill is it helped the Opposition parties to unite. You should learn from Mahabharat that the war started for the ownership of lands. You are now acting like Kauravas and grabbing the lands,” said Trivedi, provoking the treasury benches while debating in lok Sabha.

He said the land acquisition norms provided in the Bill was simply to facilitate the corporate. “You are subverting the democracy by using your majority. You might have thought by passing Ordinance and bulldoze in Parliament later with your majority. But your move has united the Opposition and now you have to face the heat. look your allies Shiv Sena and Akalis can't tolerate your style,” said the TMC MP provoking the BJP benches.
