Bihar's growth rate reduced to half, says Sushil Modi

Senior Bihar BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Friday claimed that ever since the BJP parted ways from the ruling JD(U), the economic growth rate of Bihar has reduced to nearly half from 15.05 per cent to 8.82 in 2013-14.

Taking reference from the latest report of Central Statistics Office (CSO), Shushil Modi who was earlier State’s Finance Minister said that as per the report the growth rate of Bihar has come down from 15.05 per cent in 2012-13 to merely 8.82 per cent in 2013-14.

“This drastic decline in growth rate has exposed the Chief Minister’s contention that there has been no adverse impact on governance in Bihar since he dumped the BJP on June 16, 2013,” claimed Modi. The CSO, though, had released its report on March 1.

The BJP leader also said that the sharp decline has reflected how the separation of the BJP has been a big casualty for the ruling dispensation.

“Now its mater of serious concern that State’s growth rate has halved in just one year that too when other States like Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir have recorded phenomenal growth”, Modi said at the State party headquarters.

The BJP leader blamed the CM for putting all his focus and devotion from governance to survival of his minority Government. “It has its adverse impact on the overall economic prosperity of the State which had set off during our alliance in the Government,” he said.

“Nitish Kumar’s all out effort to ensure survival of his Government has, in fact, impeded the development march of Bihar in the past one year,” rued the former Deputy Chief Minister.

The other BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav too said that it has now been exposed how Nitish Kumar was running the Government and “how hollow his claim of development is”.

“This latest report of CSO has thoroughly exposed all the tall claims of the Nitish Government on its development and growth track. Now, its has been proved that the State only made progress when the BJP was in power along with them”, claimed Nand Kishore Yadav.

State BJP president Mangal Pandey who too said State’s growth and development has been affected a lot after the BJP came out of its alliance with JD(U). “Our claim has been vindicated with this CSO report…it’s for all to see,” said Pandey.
