Bihar BJP MlA shown door for anti-party activities

Bihar BJP MlA shown door for anti-party activities
Published on:

After break-up of its alliance with the JD(U) one month back, the BJP is facing turmoil within as the party suspended its MlA from Hayaghat, Amarnath Gami on the charges of anti-party activities but his major fault was to open his mouth against the alleged dictatorial style of functioning of former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi.

Gami had also not attended a party programme in Darbhanga on Saturday, accelerating the process of his suspension from the party.

The rebel MlA claimed that resentment is brewing high among party MlAs over the way the party is running under the dual leadership of State BJP president Mangal Pandey and Sushil Modi who was once very close to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during the pre-split era.

Though the exact number of rebel MlAs is not immediately known, sources claim that around seven-eight MlAs are anguished over the State party leadership.

Gami told The Pioneer that Modi is a power hungry politician and has hijacked the party with not allowing any leader or worker to rise in the party. He said that a large number of party MlAs are waiting to come out from the shadow of Modi and the effect would start showing in the next three-four months.

He said that Mangal Pandey and Modi worked against the party constitution by not issuing any showcause notice to him before suspending him. “Under the rajtantra of these two leaders, what else one can expect from this party,” he added.

He asked, “What wrong he has done when he said that a particular leader is becoming stronger than the party ideology itself. If speaking truth is taken as a crime, I will continue to do so”. Gami also did not rule out the possibility of joining the JD(U) if his grievances are not addressed. The State BJP president told The Pioneer that Gami has been suspended from the party on the basis of his anti-party activities.

When asked why Gami was not issued showcause notice before his suspension, Pandey said the State leadership was not in any confusion about his intentions the way he was indulging  in the anti-party activities and was making statements against senior party leaders. “We had sufficient evidences against Gami, adequate enough for his suspension from the party,” he commented.

On the possibility of several BJP MlAs joining the JD(U), Pandey said that all these speculations are baseless and hold no water. He said that it is certain that a large number of JD(U) MlAs will desert their party once Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expanded his Ministry.

BJP vice president CP Thakur said that the party leadership should have first warned Gami before suspending him. He said that senior BJP leaders should hold discussions with the anguished leaders and workers to address their grievances. The BJP should first put its house in order so that it can counter its political opponents like JD(U) effectively.
