Bhujbal clan denies royal treatment in prison

Published on:

The family members and aides of incarcerated Maharashtra’s former Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal on Wednesday vehemently contested claim by activists Anjali Damania and others that he and his nephew Sameer were getting royal treatment inside Arthur Road prison in south Mumbai, where they are lodged.

A day after Damania alleged in her complaint to the State prison administration that Bhujbals had been provided “favourite” food, a wide-screen television to watch Hindi movies and Sameer was being given vodka mixed with coconut water, an aide of Bhujbals stated “Such letters and news are deliberately implanted with a view to demoralise and humiliate members of Bhujbal family. Further, such publications and circulations creates unnecessary pressure on Government machineries be it jail authorities, Government Hospitals, local police etc. There is no substance in allegations against  Bhujbal and it is a matter of time that he will be declared innocent by the Court of law.”
