The National Investigation Agency on Sunday brought Yaseen Bhatkal to Hyderabad on a transit warrant in connection with the twin blasts in Dilsukhnagar on February 21 this year. Bhatkal, the alleged Indian Mujahideen founder, is among the suspects in the blasts which claimed 17 lives and injured 100 others.

Bhatkal, who was formally arrested by the NIA on Saturday was brought in a special aircraft from Delhi to Begumpet airport and was taken to an undisclosed location for questioning. He will be produced before the first metropolitan and sessions judge on Monday and was likely to be remanded to judicial custody.

Bhatkal is the second suspect to be arrested in the twin blasts case. Earlier this week, the police brought Bhatkal’s aide Asadullah Akhtar alias Tabrez to Hyderabad and he is presently lodged in Charalapally jail on two weeks’ judicial custody.

NIA suspects that Tabrez was one of the two persons who parked bomb-laden bicycles in crowded Dilsukhnagar area on the evening of February 21. The investigators were trying to find out the role played by  Bhatkal in these blasts.
