Besides Janata Parivar, Cong, other parties also on SP mind

Even as there is no official word from the Samajwadi Party for the alliance with the members of the Janata Parivar and the Congress, the ruling party is weighing its option before the proposed tie-up with other like-minded political parties. The Samajwadi Party mired in family feud wants to work out a broad understanding with other parties on seat sharing formula before going public on the issue of alliance.

Former Janata Dal(U) president Sharad Yadav met the SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav here on Sunday. He also held meeting with the State president of the Samajwadi party Shivpal Yadav. Both declined to make comment about their meetings. Shivpal Yadav, however, said “Netaji will take the final call on this matter’’.

Prashant Kishore, the Congress poll strategist has held several rounds of meetings with the Samajwadi party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav in Delhi and in lucknow. Both are unwilling to share the deliberations with the media.

UP Congress president Raj Babbar has already disowned Prashant Kishore saying he has no mandate from the party to negotiate with other political parties for Alliance for the 2017 Assembly elections. A section of the Congress is however is eager for pre poll alliance with the SP.

Samajwadi Party sources said the next rounds of talks with Prashant Kishore and other leaders of the Congress would be held in Delhi next week. Sources said Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had a brief meeting with Prshant Kishore in the hotel on Saturday where the leader of the Janata parivar was staying. Sources said Akhilesh Yadav is reluctant to meet Prshant Kishore as Samajwadi party Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh is also involved in talks for alliance with the Congress.

Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav is in favour of alliance with the parties of the Janata Parivar and the Congress, while his son Akhilesh Yadav is not so enthusiastic about the alliance.  Sources said  “Mulayam Singh Yadav has said in  categorical manner that if the BJP is voted to power in UP in 2019 then for the next 10 years it would be  difficult for the Samajwadi party to return to power in UP’’. Sources also said, “If the BJP captures power in UP then it will also demolishes the aspirations of the parties comprising the janata parivar for the 2019 lok Sabha elections’’.

Chief Minister had, however, said on Saturday that he was for long terms alliance not only for 2017 UP Assembly elections but also for 2019 lok Sabha election for preventing the BJP from coming to power at the Centre.

Earlier Akhilesh Yadav had said there was no need for any alliance for the SP and the development works done by the State Government would help the SP to romp home with clear majority in the Assembly.  The situation has however undergone a sea change after the family feud. Akhilesh Yadav has now softened his stand saying that “Mulayam Singh Yadav will take the decision on the pre-poll alliance’’.
