BENGALURU: Three people were killed in two separate road accidents in Bengaluru in the early hours of Saturday, while another fatal crash on Friday evening took the overall toll to four across three accidents, according to media reports.

Two bikers killed in hit-and-run on Bommasandra Flyover

Two men were killed after their motorcycle was hit from behind by a speeding, unidentified vehicle on the Bommasandra flyover at around 1 am on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Lingaraju (28), a cab driver residing in Hoskote, and Devarajamman (25), an employee of a private firm who was staying in a paying guest accommodation in Electronics City. Both hailed from neighbouring villages in Sira taluk of Tumakuru district and reportedly knew each other.

According to police, the two were returning to the city together when the speeding vehicle rammed their motorcycle, throwing them off the bike. Both sustained fatal injuries and died.

“On receiving information, our staff reached the spot and shifted the bodies to a nearby hospital. The driver did not stop after the accident,” a traffic police officer said.

Police are examining CCTV footage from roads surrounding the flyover to identify the vehicle and trace its driver. The case falls under the jurisdiction of the Electronic City Traffic Police Station.

Motorcyclist killed in head-on collision with truck in HSR Layout

In another accident, a 42-year-old man was killed in a head-on collision between his motorcycle and a truck under the HSR Layout traffic police limits at around 12.30 am on Saturday.

The deceased, Dayananda, was a native of Tiptur who had come to Bengaluru for work. Police said he was returning after finishing work and was riding along the flyover on 14th Main Road, in the wrong direction believing the stretch to be a one-way road.

His motorcycle collided head-on with an oncoming truck. He sustained severe injuries and died while being taken to the hospital.

HSR Layout traffic police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
