Bengal Govt staff wants pay in cash not via banks

Making life more miserable for the Bengal Government, State employees’ federations on Thursday submitted a memorandum to the Chief Secretary demanding their salary in cash till the cash situation normalised.

According to sources at Nabanna the State secretariat the representatives of employees federations wrote to the Chief Secretary Basudeb Banerjee to ensure that the salary from December was made in cash instead of bank payment till things are normalised.

“There is no point queuing up before the banks because we are not getting money there to run our households. It is becoming difficult to pay the school fees of children, foot medical bills and buy our daily ration. We are literally blocked. So we have demanded cash payment,” said a senior employee.

While there was no reaction from the Chief Secretary sources in his office said a representation had been made by the employees.
