The ongoing restrictions on public life in Bengal was on Wednesday extended till July 30,  in view of the experts’ assumption that a possible third wave of the corona pandemic could hit by August-September.

Announcing the extension of restrictions the Chief Minister said that more relaxations would be given by the Government allowing public transport including the metro services to run with 50 percent capacity on week days.

The Government notification however made it clear that local train services to and from Kolkata would remain suspended at least till July 30. The staff special trains would however run.  While schools, colleges and universities would remain closed offices, both government and private, would be allowed to function with half the manpower.
