Already down in the doldrums in Bengal, the Congress seems to befighting two pairs of horns of dilemma in the State, insiders say.
While on one hand a great number of PCC leaders have voted against any kind of electoral alliance with an “overbearing” Trinamool Congress on the other as separate lobby has demanded changes in PCC leadership.
This includes the demand for removing State party President Adhir Chowdhury.
Incidentally Chowdhury a veteran MP from Murshidabad leads the pack of leaders who are against joining hands with Mamata Banerjee as “the Chief Minister has nearly dismantled the Bengal Congress and gobbled it up ever since she came to power in 2011.”
The same group is more interested to tow a pro-left Front line in the 2019 general elections. “After all the Congress benefited a great deal from an alliance with the left in 2016 State elections as we became the principal opposition party.”
