Bengal BJP wants imposition of Prez rule in WB

With two more saffron cadres falling to alleged Trinamool attacks, angry Bengal BJP leaders have recommended imposition of President’s Rule, deployment of Central forces and even retaliatory measures against the ruling party goons.

While party vice president Mukul Roy on Sunday demanded “immediate imposition of Article 356” in the State, all India general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya recommended deployment of Central forces. Known for his aggressive statements State party president Dilip Ghosh went a step further saying the TMC would get the taste of its own medicine post December.

The angry remarks came hours after the assassination of two booth-level BJP leaders at Halisahar in North 24 Parganas and Purbasthali near Burdwan. While in the first case, a BJP worker Saikat Bhawal was on Saturday beaten to death and six others were injured when alleged TMC workers attacked them during a door-to-door campaign of the party, in the second case Sukdeb

Pramanik was found murdered by alleged TMC men for leading a party procession against attack on BJP chief JP Nadda’s convoy.

Trinamool distanced itself from the twin attacks, but BJP MP Arjun Singh alleged that Trinamool goons killed Bhawal. Three TMC workers were arrested in connection of the Halisahar murder police said.

Both the murders took place days after alleged ruling party supporters attacked the convoy of party president JP Nadda near Diamond Harbour in South Parganas damaging the vehicles of Vijabargiya, Mukul Roy and other senior leaders.

Condemning the series of attacks Roy said “though my party colleagues may not back my demand and though my senior leadership may not support me I personally feel that the current deterioration in law and order situation in

Bengal demands the imposition of Article 356… I think ‘356 should immediately by clamped in the State.”

Another senior leader BJP’s observer for Bengal Kailash Vijaybargiya said the way Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was trying to terrorise the opposition there was a desperate need for deployment of central forces in the State.

“It is clear that Mamata Banerjee is trying to scare away the opposition with violation … she is trying to terrorise the right thinking people to retain power and perpetrate her oppressive rule … there is no other way but to deploy central forces in large numbers throughout the State,” he said.

Dilip Ghosh however went a step forward suggesting “brickbat for a brickbat.” He said “the way our all-India president’s convoy was attacked … the way our men are being killed and their houses looted” with great frequency and the way the police have been reduced to an impotent force “there is no other way but to do retaliate… If this violence does not attack then there will be counter retaliation post December and the BJP will not be responsible for that.”

The TMC leadership said the BJP was trying to coerce the State administration and prepare a prelude for engineering communal riots before the next year’s Assembly elections. Reacting to the BJP leadership’s comment Bengal Minister Firhad Hakim said the “BJP leaders are trying to humiliate Bengal which is a peaceful state… there is no violence here … violence takes place in Madhya Pradesh’s Chambal and other BJP-ruled States like UP.”
