The Bengal BJP is all set to catch the Trinamool bull by its horns. And the decisive bull-fight will commence in the pancyahat elections scheduled to be held next year.
The party considers the rural polls as “quarter finals,” the 2019 general elections and 2021 Assembly polls as the “Finals” when the BJP will shove the Mamata Banerjee Government out of our power, State BJP president Dilip Ghosh said on Tuesday.
Rich with some impressive electoral shows in the recent past and excited by increasing number of phone calls seeking membership after national president Amit Shah’s visit to the State the buoyant saffron outfit will strive to build up its organisational prowess in the coming months so that it can put up an inspired fight in 2019, Ghosh said.
Emerging from the party State committee meeting in Burdwan the BJP State president said about 10,000 workers will fan out in the regions in the coming months to build up booth-level contacts and take the party’s messages at the grassroots level.
“We consider Panchayat elections as the Quarters Finals, lok Sabha elections as the Semi Finals and Assembly elections as the Finals,” Ghosh said adding the CPI(M) and the Congress would not be in a position to campaign as they would not be left with workers while the Trinamool Congress will collapse after their top leaders are taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the Sharada and Narada cases.
The TMC will not be in a position to fight the elections and carry out their campaign as headless bodies, he said.
The party will begin its campaign by gheraoing the lal Bazar police headquarters in Kolkata on May 25, Ghosh said. With the gradual decimation of the CPI(M) and Congress the TMC and the BJP were now standing face-to-face.
“Corruption, mainly chit fund and Narada scams will be the issues in the panchayat elections,” he said alleging “there has been large-scale corruption in the functioning of panchayats. From building infra-structure projects to 100 days’ job schemes corruption has been rampant and people want to vent their anger in the elections. It is the duty of the BJP to help them do so.” The party will also throw up surprising results in the civic elections scheduled to be held in two weeks’ time.
“like the way the BJP performed in South Contai Assembly by-polls it will throw up some surprising results in the coming civic elections,” he said.
Elections to seven municipalities: Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Mirik, Raiganj, Domkal and Pujali will be held on May 14 giving the parties to have a taste of urban people’s mind.
