The Congress on Wednesday charged that the Maoists and BJP are working closely in Chhattisgarh to help serve each other's purpose. The party has also decided not to attend the all-party meeting called by Chief Minister Raman Singh to discuss the situation prevailing in the State following the brutal killing of Congress leaders in May 25 Naxal attack.
It has also reiterated demand for the CM's quitting with AICC Chhatisgarh Incharge B K Hariprasad saying, "If Raman Singh is stateman as being claimed by BJP, then he should immediately resign."
Party spokesman Bhakta Charan Das said that the State Government wants to whitewash the gruesome incident by just suspending Superintendent of Police and transferring IG of Bastar while no action has been taken against the Chief Minister and Intelligence Wing Chief, who is a close confidante of CM, despite their admission of security lapse.
Pointing out that the direct beneficiary of the wiping of the entire state leadership of the Congress is the state government, he demanded a proper investigation to bring the truth before the people so that it should be known as to how low the people could gofor political benefit.
"The so called Maoists and BJP are working in closely to help serve each other's purposes," Das said adding that BJP and state government is silent on the questions raised by the Congress and the CM has not yet resigned. He said that Congress will not participate in the all party meeting called by CM as the latter had not consulted them earlier concerning providing security.
Das said that since the Congress has improved its position in the Bastar region which decides the outcome of assembly polls in Chhatisgarh, vested interests launched a conspiracy against it.
Sources on condition of anonymity said that Raman Singh had earlier said that he will use "Brahmastra (ultimate weapon) against the Congress and it appears that he had this gruesome naxal attack in mind to finish the entire Congress leadership in Chhatisgarh.
The Congress has also alleged that a disinformation campaign has been launched to indicate that route of the party's Parivartan Yatra was changed at the last moment just to divert attention from the main issue. Asserting that there was no change in yatra route at the last moment, however admitted that the date of the Yatra was changed due to the marriage of Congress PCC President Nand Kumar Patel's younger son on May 20. But about that also the district administration was given information much in advance, Yatra incharge and Chhatisgarh Congress Vice President T S Singhdeo.
