BCCI moves SC to seek statements of Srinivasan, Dhoni

The BCCI on Wednesday approached the Supreme Court with an application seeking transcripts of audio tapes containing statements of Board President N Srinivasan, Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and IPl COO Sundar Raman, recorded by the Justice Mukul Mudgal Committee that had probed allegations of spot fixing in IPl.

The BCCI counsel mentioned the application for listing before a bench headed by Justice AK Patnaik who posted the matter for hearing on Friday.

In the application BCCI also sought the transcripts of statements made by the three persons in order to ascertain whether they had lied to the Committee when asked to state the role played by Srinivasan;s son-in-law with regard to daily affairs and management of Chennai Super Kings, the IPl franchisee owned by Srinivasan’s company India Cements.

The counsel told the Bench that they need the transcripts to prepare themselves ahead of the case’s hearing listed for April 16 in the apex court. The court in its earlier order had ordered Srinivasan to step down and replaced him with veteran cricketer Sunil Gavaskar to manage the IPl this year beginning April 16.  For the remaining affairs of BCCI, other than IPl, the Court appointed BCCI Vice President Shivlal Yadav to officiate as President.
