The battle for supremacy between two power centres within the Punjab Congress party — the State party chief Partap Singh Bajwa and his predecessor Capt Amarinder Singh — has intensified.
A day after the State party unit’s Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) issued show-cause notices to two party leaders — Kewal Singh Dhillon and Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi, one of the Committee members claimed that the decision was taken “in the absence of committee members”. At the same time, senior party leader and Congress Working Committee member Amarinder too condemned the “disciplinary notices” to the party vice-presidents, and warned against attempts to “gag” the “popular sentiment” in the party.
