Bansuri slam cleric’s remarks on Dimple

Certain alleged remarks by a cleric against Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Dimple Yadav drew the ire of BJP leader Bansuri Swaraj and Congress’ Renuka Chowdhury on Monday calling them shameful, unacceptable and offensive. NDA MPs also held a protest outside the Parliament in protest.

Dimple Yadav said the NDA’s outrage over a cleric’s derogatory comments against her would be more meaningful had similar solidarity been shown during incidents like the violence in Manipur.

“It’s good that action is being taken now. But it would have been better if similar protests and support had been visible when horrifying incidents like the one in Manipur came to light through footage on social media. Back then, if people had stood together the way they are now over the Operation Sindoor issue, it would have shown genuine concern,” Yadav said.

Bansuri Swaraj said, “It is deeply shameful that such an offensive and inappropriate comment has been made against a sitting MP, Dimple Yadav ji, and yet her husband Akhilesh Yadav and his entire party, as well as the entire Opposition, remain silent,” in Parliament complex.

She asked if “appeasement politics” had become more important than standing up for a woman’s dignity. “Does the entire Opposition agree with this indecent remark?

The NDA will continue to raise its voice for every woman, even if she is MP Dimple Yadav,” she said.

Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury also lashed out at the cleric’s comments, saying, “This reflects their mindset and sanskar. How dare he speak like this... Whether it’s Dimple Yadav or any other woman how can such things be said? Who are these people and where do they come from?
