Bansal plays victim, cries conspiracy

Calling himself a victim of sustained and mendacious campaign, Chandigarh sitting MP and Congress candidate Pawan Kumar Bansal on Sunday said that he became the victim of a conspiracy during Railway Board bribery scam.

While referring to the scam, the former Union Railway Minister Bansal said that a sustained mendacious campaign of calumny has been going on against him, wholly ignoring the facts.

Addressing his first press conference after nearly 10 months ever since the controversy had broken out, Bansal claimed that it was a handiwork of the BJP.

The four-time MP said during their two-month long intensive investigation in May and June last year, the Central Bureau of Investigation could not find even an iota of evidence against him, and accordingly his name was not included in the charge sheet and has rather been cited as prosecution witness.

The Special CBI Court took cognisance of the same as such, he added.

On the charges of criminal conspiracy and corruption being framed against his nephew Vijay Singla in the case, Bansal said, “People know the truth. I have been given clean chit in the case.
