Bansal loses temper at media

Published on:

After being sacked from the post of Union Railway Minister, beleaguered Chandigarh MP Pawan Kumar Bansal lost his temper and threatened mediapersons on Sunday when questioned about the corruption charges on his family members.

Bansal, who returned to his hometown on May 11 late evening for the first time after the arrest of his nephew Vijay Singla, convened a meeting of his party workers and office bearers at his residence here on Sunday to assess his following after his resignation.

While talking to the mediapersons during the meeting, Bansal maintained that he is innocent and nothing will come out from this case. He added that his family has been wrongly dragged into the issue by the opposition.

When asked about his innocence in the case, in which his own nephew is found involved, Bansal threatened media and said, “Tujhe detailed definition of family samjhaoon kya akele mein” (Should I give you the definition of family in detail). All the Congress leaders including former Mayor Pradeep Chhabra present at the time of incident, were visibly stunned at the aggressive reaction of Bansal, who is otherwise known for his humility and politeness in the political and media circle.

Meanwhile, Bansal

succeeded in pulling around 200 people at the meeting, including Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee president

BB Behal, president of Chandigarh youth Congress and former Mayor Subhash Chawla and Pradeep Chhabra respectively besides numbers of Congress leaders from colonies and villages.

However, most of the loyalist and senior leaders of Chandigarh Congress including Ram Pal Sharma, DD Jindal, Pawan Sharma, Bhupinder Singh Badherhi, Davinder Babla, former Mayors Kamlesh and Anu Chattrath and Chandermukhi Sharma and some councilors chose to stay away from the meeting. The move to organize the meeting was seen as an attempt made by Bansal to show that he still enjoys party’s support.

While addressing the party workers at the meeting,

he said “I am not associated with the case. I assure you that nothing will come out from this case.”He added, “I will prove that I have no role in the case. And, I welcome CBI probe

into the issue.”
