In its quest to “Congress Mukt Karnataka”, the three-time Congress MlA from Soraba constituency and a senior leader Kumar S Bangarappa has resigned from Congress and would be joining BJP soon. Son of popular leader and former Chief Minister late S Bangarappa, an actor turned politician Kumar’s decision to join BJP is a setback to Congress and would help the saffron party in consolidating Ediga (toddy
tappers) community votes in some part of Karnataka. His decision to quit Congress after the resignation of former Chief Minister SM Krishna and Dalit leader V Srinivas Prasad is a jolt to the Siddaramaiah led ruling Congress in the State.
He announced his decision to join BJP at a Press conference in Bengaluru on Friday.
