For the new Minister of State for Urban Development and Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation, Babul Supriyo Baral, priority will be to achieve the Government’s target of ensuring shelters to all by 2022.
Speaking to the media after assuming the office on Monday, Supriyo, a noted singer and the BJP MP from Asansol, said that he will strive to live up to the ‘performance doctrine’ of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said that he will understand the functioning of Ministries in about a week and would like to begin with housing for urban poor as his priority. On being asked about his contribution to West Bengal as a Union Minister, he said he would like to work as a bridge between the Centre and the State.
Noting that a lot needs to be done for his home State, the Minister said that his constituency will receive its due attention.
