The Congress on Wednesday said that India is waiting patiently, since 1989, to have a Prime Minister from the Gandhi-Nehru family.
Desh Aankhein Bichchaye Baitha Hai. They are the only ones who talk about each and every segment of the society, while ‘others’ have chosen the fascism way of politics,” Congress spokesperson Raj Babbar said.
At the same time, hitting back at BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for his continuous attack on Congress and Rahul Gandhi for “dynastic” politics, he asked Modi to explain how he views the politics of NDA allies Akali Dal and Shiva Sena.
“Those who are talking about vanshwad ask them to introspect about their allies. Will they show a mirror to Sukhbir Singh Badal and Udhav ThackerayIJ Will they also show mirror to their party leaders in Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh”IJ Babbar said.
While Thackeray and Badal are sons of their respective party chiefs late Bal Thackeray and Parkash Singh Badal, former BJP Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal’s son Anurag Thakur is an MP from Hamirpur and president of Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s son Dushyant Singh is also an MP from Jhalawar.
Party general secretary Digvijay Singh asked why BJP wants to take the support of those parties in which dynasty rules. He said if there is any party in India which supported feudal thoughts, it was BJP, its previous avatar Jan Sangh and RSS.
“It was Jan Sangh and RSS which had opposed the abolition of privy purse and Zamindari Act. This feudal word is not in the dictionary of Congress. This is only in BJP,” Singh said. BJP had recently accused Congress of “feudal” politics.
The party also dismissed contentions that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s speech at the convention smacked of ‘regionalism’. Babbar said what the JD(U) leader had said should not be compared to utterances by MNS chief Raj Thackeray.
