A software engineer, Avinash Kuna, 30, hailing from Vizag city drowned in a United States lake while he was on a boat ride with his friends to celebrate his birthday.
Sources said the New Jersey police fished out the body of Avinash Kuna on Monday. He reportedly drowned after diving off a rental pontoon boat in Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey and got stuck in a weed on Saturday.
After the tragic incident, his friends started an online fundraiser to send the body back to India for his family and well-wishers to perform the last rites. So far $37,000 has been crowd sourced.
According to sources, Kuna had rented the boat and invited eight friends from his workplace at the UPS Technology Center in Parsippany, for a sunny Saturday afternoon ride on New Jersey’s largest freshwater lake.
During the boating, Kuna, who loves swimming, jumped off the boat. But, he got caught his leg in the weed, and he seemed to have drowned right away, according to his friends.
