Minister for Minority Welfare, Mohd Azam Khan has criticised Congress- led Central Government for taking late decision of tabling Communal Violence Bill.
“Though the decision would have been taken in view of 2014 general election, at least they should had shown interest in curbing communal violence after nine years,” said Minister here on Wednesday.
Communal Violence Bill was drafted in year 2005 and was to be tabled in the Parliament. But unfortunately even after country witnessed several riots bill remained pending for nine years. “The Congress Government will be held responsible for all the riots occurred in this period. If the Bill would have been passed then, Muzaffarnagar incident would have been averted,” said Khan. Commenting on the Central Government’s
decision of tabling in the Winter Session, Minister said: “Why they are the waiting till next sessionIJ They should call in a special parliamentary session for getting approval. Minister said no doubt the Bill was beneficial as it has many provisions which will discourage miscreants from inciting any kind of communal violence.
